Our summer coffee is a spirited duet of the traditionally roasted Amkeni coffee bean and the dried pulp* of the Amkeni coffee cherry. Amkeni is grown at an altitude of around 1800 metres on the slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro in the Moshi region of north-eastern Tanzania. The coffee cherry is the fruit of the coffee plant. Inside it are the coffee beans, which in turn are encased in the pulp. We have paired beans and pulp in our summer coffee. The result is a wonderfully refreshing and complex coffee with notes of orange, rhubarb and hibiscus. In the local language, "Amkeni" means "wake up." You can take that literally, because the pulp of the coffee cherry actually has even more caffeine than the coffee bean.
